Equipment

In the Miguel Altuna Institute we have a lot of important resources available, in terms both of equipment in the form of machines and tools of every type, and also of computing hardware and software.

To the resources aforementioned, there are several of recent acquisitions to mention; above all those which have a more direct relation to cold forming. In this way, taking into account the machines and instruments available before in the workshops and in the metrology and metallography labs, these recent incorporations go together with the preceding to add up to a totality of high potential.

Forming Workshop:

SACMA SP260 Cold Former with the following technical characteristics:
o        Nominal forming force: 650kN.
o        6 progressive stations. 1st cut-off + 5 die.
o        Max. cut-off diameter: 10,5mm.
o        Cut-off length: 85mm.
o        Max. kick out length. dies: 65mm / Punches: 20mm.
o        Max. production per minute: 275 pieces.
o        Max. power of main motor: 30kW.
Thread Rolling Machine DIREGI AZK-20:
o        Speed: 80-250 p/min.
o        Diameter of screw Min 4 ÷ Max.12.
o        Length of thread: Min. 8 ÷ Max.102.
o        Max. length of Shank 150.
o        Dies Sizes: 150´80´30 / 170´80´30.
o        Power: 22KW.
o        Weight approx. 4800kg.
Apart from the already mentioned, we have machinery of all types at out disposition in the workshops: a manual MECAMAQ press for tool assemblage and adjustment, milling machines and lathes of all types, grinders, electroerosion machines.
Laboratory of Metrology and Metallography:
-          Mitutoyo Crysta Apex CMM Coordinate Measuring Machine with MCOSMOS 3 software. Tridimensional machine, that is used to measure by means of automatic coordinates.
-          STATPAK (MCosmos) software by Mitutoyo for statistics.
-          OLIMPUS GX51 Inverted Metallurgical Microscope.
-          Vickers GALILEO ISOSCAN OD Microdurometer. Charge Capacity 10g ÷ 10kg.
-          KRAUTHKRAMER USM 35X Portable Ultrasonic Flaw Detector by GE (General Electric)
-          Hoytom machine for pull-off tests.
-          Accesories and complements for metallografic tests: mounting press, polishing machine, abrasive cut-off machine, meatallurgical microscopes.
-          Mitutoyo profile projector. Apart from measuring instruments of all types: special calibres and micrometers, alexometers, gonimeters, comparator stands…
Simulation software through FEA (Finite Element Analysis). Nowadays we have two software programs available:
-           The FEMUTEC software by SIMUFACT.
-     COLDFORM software by TRANSVALOR.
